Huddersfield opens with impressive win over Crystal Palace
Huddersfield announced their arrival in the Premier League with a brilliant 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The Terriers pressed and harried their surprised opponents all game and got their reward in the 23rd minute when Christopher Schindler flicked on an Aaron Mooy corner, forcing an own goal from Joel Ward at the back post. Just three minutes later the lead was doubled when another Mooy cross was met with a firm header from Steve Mounie that slammed into the net.
Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke went close for Palace before half time, but after the break the visitors were back on it and scored their third when Mounie met substitute Collin Quaner's pass with a first-time finish. Again the Eagles mounted a surge, but Benteke, Zaha and Scott Dann all squandered decent opportunities. This was Huddersfield's day.
