Liverpool, Watford draw in sloppy affair

Watford earned a late point against an uninspired Liverpool side in a 3-3 thriller in Saturday's early kick-off.

It's not often that so few opportunities are created in a six-goal thriller, but that was the case at Vicarage Road this afternoon, every goal a product of defensive calamity. It didn't take long for Liverpool's problems at the back to be exposed, Stefano Okaka afforded acres of space to nod home from a corner inside ten minutes.

Liverpool were gifted two equalisers either side of a Abdoulaye Doucoure tap-in and Sadio Mane cancelled out Okaka's opener when the Hornets' rearguard were caught napping. Firmino levelled the standings again in the second half from the spot, after Mohamed Salah's pace drew a cheap penalty from Heurelho Gomes.

Watford were left wondering where it all went wrong as the visitors quickly edged in front, despite looking totally adject throughout, Miguel Britos going missing as Salah tapped in Firmino's wayward shot from point-blank range.

The hosts did earn a point in the dying moments though, more lamentable set-piece defending allowed Britos to redeem himself, ushering the ball over the line after Jurgen Klopp's side failed to clear the late corner.

Plenty of concerns for both managers to ponder, but a fair result all things considered.
