Pomeranz struck out 11, ending the game with a 4.70 ERA and 1.39 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: The 11 strikeouts matched a career high for Pomeranz, who's now fanned 56 hitters in 44 innings of work. He's still a bit of a fantasy risk, though, as he had failed to last beyond four innings in any of his three previous start and was 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA during that stretch.

May 14 6:34 PM PT7:34 PM MT8:34 PM CT9:34 PM ET21:34 ET1:34 GMT9:34 6:34 PM MST8:34 PM EST9:04 PM VEN5:34 UAE (+1)8:34 PM CT-Drew Pomeranz fell to 3-3, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks in 3.0 innings, as the Boston Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 11-2 on Sunday. He left the game before throwing a pitch in the top of the fourth inning and was later diagnosed with left triceps tightness.
Analysis: "I felt something in warmups kind of similar to what I felt in spring training, one of those games I came out of," Pomeranz said. "Just kind of stayed there (and) didn't go away. We decided it was best to just come out of the game then." Pomeranz will undergo precautionary medical imaging on Monday, Boston manager John Farrell said.

Analysis: Pitching in chilly conditions with light drizzle falling most of the game, the left-hander finished his warm-up pitches and rotated his arm before manager John Farrell and a trainer jogged to the mound.

Analysis: The left-hander was deemed good to go after throwing 90 pitches against minor leaguers Monday at the Red Sox's spring training facility. Pomeranz struggled in 13 starts after being acquired by Boston from San Diego in July, posting a 4.68 ERA and allowing 14 homers in 67 1/3 innings.

Analysis: The Red Sox said Pomeranz, in competition for a spot in the rotation, was pulled against Minnesota as a precaution. The AL East champions had been counting on Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello, David Price and newcomer Chris Sale to be their big three in the rotation, with Pomeranz, knuckleballer Steven Wright and left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez vying for the remaining two spots.
